I have two thoughts that I know are connected, but I am still figuring out exactly how.
First, more companies are giving employees access to AI and agents without forcing them to use either. But even with that access, many teams do not seem to be moving as fast as expected.
Agents can automate or simplify a lot of manual work. In theory, that should make execution much faster. Yet many companies still struggle to make the full workflow faster.
Do we need a new development process?
If a ticket used to take two or three days, should we still plan and manage it the same way?
With Cursor's Auto Balanced mode and around five focused hours, I can produce five or six medium-to-XL pull requests that are ready for review.
But then what?
If implementation becomes five times faster while planning, reviews, QA, approvals, and releases stay the same, the overall workflow does not become five times faster.
So what needs to change? What is the missing piece?
