The future of software engineering has never felt this vague.
When I started working in tech, I had enormous energy to learn. I worked in backend, frontend, DevOps, mobile, data engineering, and machine learning. I tried it all.
Then I heard the same advice from many people: focus on one direction. I followed it and concentrated on frontend and mobile development.
Seven years later
AI-driven development has taken over tech. Not every engineer or company has adopted it, but almost every engineer is either trying to learn it or worrying about being left behind.
For many people, that spark to learn is back. That part is exciting.
But I also see people with almost no life outside technology. They work in tech all day, then spend the rest of their time trying to learn another tool or technology.
People in tech need to invest in their mental health alongside their careers.
Take care, and stay safe.
